Design of cover and pages of Our History, a history book for Grade 4 students in English Medium Instruction schools in Libya and the North Africa region. The book was created to be directly written in by children, providing a range of design challenges. Spacing, typography and font sizes were key considerations, requiring approaches that enabled direct interaction with the medium, while maintaining accessibility and age-appropriateness. Unit opener pages were briefed to have more visual interest and hold a specific vocabulary used for that section. A variety of repeated features, such as facts and quizzes, were designed and implemented in order to keep readers engaged throughout the book.
