Cover and page design for The Wild Detectives, a new decodable readers series comprising 66 books to accompanying the client's current teaching program. The client, Little Learners Love Literacy (LLLL), required a distinctive design that allowed the series to stand out in a competitive field whilst retaining a clear and engaging page layout. Using a skeleton template and design guidance provided by the client, the mix of fiction and non-fiction titles were developed from first proofs through to print-ready files, utilising a modern illustration style to bring the stories to life. Each title demanded a bespoke page layout that prioritised simple and clean structures to balance the text, artwork and additional page features required by each story. The non-fiction titles required additional investment in order to incorporate character artworks into photos in an appealing and cohesive way.
